This website at www.sponsor-a-can.org is operated by Sponsor-A-Can, a Washington State 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation (EIN: 93-1624890). Throughout these Terms of Service, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Sponsor-A-Can.
By accessing or using our website — whether you are donating, reporting a cart, registering as a Samaritan, accessing the stakeholder portal, or simply browsing — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and the other policies referenced here, including our Privacy Policy and Refund and Returns Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the website or our services. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we make changes. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
1. About Sponsor-A-Can and Our Services
Sponsor-A-Can is a Washington State 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation operating under contract with Kitsap County and serving the broader Kitsap region. Through our website, we offer:
- Donation processing — through Square, for tax-deductible charitable contributions
- Public cart reporting — through our Save-A-Cart form, allowing community members to report abandoned shopping carts
- Samaritan tier registration — a vetted community reporter program
- Stakeholder portal access — PIN-gated access to our live operations map and impact report for county officials, board members, and approved community partners
- SAC Forms WordPress plugin — licensed software for other organizations conducting field operations
- Information about our work — programs, impact data, news, and contact information
Future services may include merchandise sales and additional programs. These Terms apply to any new services we add unless we provide separate terms.
2. Eligibility
By using our website, you represent that you are at least 18 years old, or that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you are under 18, you may not register as a Samaritan, make donations independently, or hold a stakeholder PIN.
3. Donations
All donations to Sponsor-A-Can are voluntary, tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law, and processed through Square. By making a donation, you confirm that you are the authorized user of the payment method and that the information you provide is accurate.
Donations are governed by our Refund and Returns Policy. We do not provide goods or services in exchange for donations beyond the recognition described on this website. Donations are final and refundable only under the circumstances outlined in the Refund Policy.
4. Cart Reporting and User-Submitted Content
When you submit a cart report, comment, photo, or any other content through our website (“User Content”), you grant Sponsor-A-Can a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, store, display, and reproduce that content for the purpose of operating our services, fulfilling our county contract, and documenting our impact.
You retain ownership of your User Content. However, you represent and warrant that:
- You have the right to submit the content (you took the photo, you witnessed the cart, etc.)
- The content does not violate the privacy or other rights of third parties
- The content is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- The content does not contain malware, defamatory material, or other harmful content
We reserve the right to remove, edit, or refuse to display any User Content at our discretion.
5. Stakeholder Portal Access
Our stakeholder portal (including the live operations map and Impact Report) is PIN-gated and accessible only to authorized users. By accepting a stakeholder PIN, you agree to:
- Not share your PIN with any unauthorized person
- Use the data only for the purposes for which access was granted (county oversight, board governance, partner coordination, etc.)
- Treat any non-public location data as confidential
- Notify Sponsor-A-Can if you believe your PIN has been compromised
We log stakeholder portal access (including IP address, device fingerprint, and timestamp) for audit purposes. We reserve the right to revoke any stakeholder PIN at our discretion, including for misuse or apparent unauthorized sharing.
6. Samaritan Program
Approved Samaritan reporters are members of the public who have applied and been vetted to submit higher-credibility cart reports. Samaritan status confers no employment relationship with Sponsor-A-Can, no compensation, and no representation rights. Samaritans must follow the conduct standards provided at the time of approval and may be removed from the program at our discretion.
7. SAC Forms Plugin License
If you purchase or download the SAC Forms WordPress plugin, your use of that software is governed by the separate license agreement provided at the time of purchase. The license is non-transferable and limited to the sites for which it was purchased. Plugin refund terms are governed by our Refund and Returns Policy.
8. Intellectual Property
